I know snowstorms in April isn't the strangest thing any of us've ever seen but I don't think I've seen anything like Diagon this afternoon when I went for lunch. Snow up to my ankles the day before the start of May. Hopefully it's skipped Hogsmeade. I'd rather not have to walk the dogs in the snow.
WARDED TO THE WARWICKS.We're going to have a family dinner on Friday. I know it's short notice so I'll try not to hold it against you if you can't make it but do try, it'd be nice to have us all sit down together. We won't keep you too late.
Although, Ava, if you don't mind staying a bit late, we could discuss a few of those plans for warding the town. It's slipped my mind the last couple weeks but I still think it's a good idea.
WARDED TO ELIZABETH KETTERIDGE.Been a strange couple weeks around here. Almost looking forward to the next case to get my mind off it. Holding up well?

WARDED TO THE DMLE.Given the recent attacks in Hogsmeade, several other residents and myself are interested in setting up a system to warn Hogsmeade residents of an attack. The details are in the works at the moment, but we'd also like to set up some town-wide wards with the help of several curse breakers, if that does not conflict with anything the DMLE has planned for it. Mr Dumbledore has offered his pub as an emergency meeting location so the lot of us could stay safe there, but I thought it best to run it by some one within the Ministry before taking any further action.
WARDED TO THE WARWICK CHILDREN.You'd all better keep your Sundays free this week, or at least enough of it to have brunch with your mother. It's been a tough year and she deserves all of us to be there. Besides, I'm enlisting all of you to help me cook it.

What an incredible relief to be on holiday during the latest full moon (it was wonderful, but it's nice to be back, sans lions). As lovely a time as we've had living in Hogsmeade, the recent events, between the werewolf attacks and earlier Death Eater attacks, certainly provide plenty of reason to be concerned. I hope everyone is either unhurt or on the mend. If there's anything Stella or I or the kids can do, please let us know.
WARDED TO HOGSMEADE RESIDENTS.I'm sure you've all noticed the rise in catastrophe in our town lately. As terrible as they've been, we ought to take the opportunity to come together as a community. I have experience flying with the Civil Air Patrol that I could offer, if anyone would like to assist me in setting up rounds that might allow for an early first alert if anything goes wrong. Curfew makes that a bit difficult, but we could also look into setting up town-wide wards that could warn of an after-hours intruder should anything like this happen again. Thoughts? Ideas?
WARDED TO ELIZABETH KETTERIDGE.How's your head? Hopefully feeling better by now.

I don't think I've ever been more grateful that my children are no longer at Hogwarts. Love potions aren't something people should be mucking about with. I can distinctly recall an incident with love potion when I was at Hogwarts, though I suppose my mind could be making it up for the occasion without my having realised it -- yes, Hogwarts was that long ago. One student's owl drank a bit of love potion and refused to leave its owner's side, even when he went to class. From what I remember, it took a bit for them to decide how best to cure a bird but eventually managed it. No harm done that time, but it can always be dangerous and hardly worth the risk. If you have to coerce some one into loving you, that's certainly not real love.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the people and families affected by the attack nearly eight years ago. Your losses have not and will never be forgotten. I hope that each of us, as we take advantage of tomorrow to spend time with our loved ones, bear in mind events that have preceded it. It should go without saying and has been said many times before, but I can't help feel it bears repeating -- cherish those dear to you not only on Valentine's Day, but every day. I can honestly say that when you lose them or feel you might lose them, you will wish you'd done more to show them how much they meant to you.
WARDED TO ELIZABETH KETTERIDGE.Any exciting plans for the holiday? Somehow I have a feeling Tuesday and Wednesday might be very busy days for us in the office.
WARDED TO THE WARWICKS.Your mother and I have something we need to discuss with all of you. We know you're becoming well attached to the puppies but we are firm in our decision that we cannot possibly keep them. We are willing to allow you to pick one from the litter -- and not one each, since I know you'll try to twist my words. We'll keep one puppy and you can come to a consensus as to which one.
Additionally, we'd like to take a family holiday at the end of the month. You will all be expected to go with us, though I certainly hope it won't come to forcing any of you. We haven't picked a location and we thought we'd allow you some say in the matter. Somewhere warm and sunny is the only stipulation aside from somewhere, of course, suited to vacationing. While a tropical jungle might seem like an exciting place to visit, I can assure you, it would make for a miserable vacation spot. While we originally thought visiting Egypt would be nice, it wouldn't be much of a holiday for Ava. So, be creative but within reason and make sure your schedules for the last week of February are clear.

I think the most telling sign that there's been too much going on this weekend is that I'm looking forward to the week itself. With any hope, it'll be a great deal less eventful. And hopefully after working out some of the kinks, this Ministry sensitivity training will be as promising as it sounds.
WARDED TO THE WARWICKS.After this weekend, I think we need to have a discussion about the importance of family, given that some of us seem to think this family is expendable. Your mum and I won't always be here and we all need to do a better job of appreciating each other while we still can.
Harper, I'm especially disappointed in you.

Let me preface this by noting how seriously I take my work, and if any squad members are reading this, they'll forget it by tomorrow morning (or else). But no matter how seriously I take it, every once in a while, we get assigned to handle cases that truly baffle, delight, amuse and horrify -- often at different points in time, but occasionally all at once. Yesterday afternoon, we responded to an incident, the technical term is 'accident' for anyone curious, during which a young witch somehow managed to transform their family dogs' bogies into large, yellow, genie-shaped blobs, for lack of a better word. As a father of five, I've seen some grotesque things over the years, but nothing that even came close to comparison. Her father and one of his mates must not have realised what'd happened, because when we got there, they were chest-deep in dog bogies with their beers still in their hands.
It's easy to see how bafflement, delight, amusement and horror could all come into play in such a situation. Nevertheless, the AMRSquad takes itself seriously and we're all rather brave and whatnot. I think we all even somehow managed to sort it all out before we had a laugh, though I can imagine it was difficult for a few of us.
WARDED TO THE WARWICKS.Harper, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here, but you're going to give your mother and I heart attacks if you keep it up. The Death Eaters have killed people for far less and you need to be far more careful about with whom you're sharing these opinions of yours. The DMLE are good people and they know what they're doing. They're on our side. And don't get any ideas about those dog bogies. You could crush the puppies.

Being a father has forced me to learn how to cope with seeing my children's lives flash before my eyes at any given moment when they're in any potential harm's way. Last night, our youngest were in London at the time of the crash, and I'm afraid calm was elusive until I heard they were safe. The people killed last night were sons or daughters. They may have been parents, siblings, lovers, aunts or uncles. Death Eaters ought to keep these things at the forefront of their minds. Surely their own parents would be devastated if anything happened to them and their victims are no different.
Fortunately, Levi and Harper returned home safely. I hope everyone else injured in last night's crash can do the same very soon.
